Providence Health & Services Occupational Therapist in Seattle, Washington
Providence is calling an Occupational Therapist (OT) (Rehabilitation, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence ElderPlace in Seattle & Kent, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Perform thorough OT assessments, evaluating the physical and functional status as well as cognitive, psychological and perceptual function of PEP participants.
Perform home assessments to determine home safety as well as needed adaptations, DME and caregiver training in home environment.
Develop plan of care in accordance with participant’s needs and team approval.
Interact with the public and other employees in a positive manner.
Demonstrate an ability to treat a wide range of geriatric diagnoses, both psychiatric and physical and be knowledgeable in therapy treatments, goals and contraindications for treatment.
Request consultation, supervision or continuing education when appropriate to learn specialized techniques or treatment approaches.
Provide participant/caregiver education and counseling regarding issues related to rehabilitation treatment and goals, safety risks and equipment and home adaptations.
Evaluate, recommend and is responsible for obtaining adaptive equipment and DME. Fabricates adaptive equipment as needed.
Adapt equipment and techniques for use in participants living situation assuring optimum function and safety.
Train team members and caregivers in the use of adaptive equipment and DME.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school
Current licensure or certification in Washington State
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Valid driver’s license and current auto liability insurance
1 year OT experience with a frail or elderly population
